sorry for the radio silence!
'tis true i haven't made much in the last few weeks.
my head has been brewing about where to go next.
the end of the year is a good time for that it seems.
it's also been bitterly cold here in the woods making the idea of screen printing in the shop with cold water a little less than appealing.
the short dark days seem to allow just enough time to work, hopefully go to the gym and snuggle up on the sofa to stare at the lights reflecting off the ceiling from my x mas tree.
the spinning light thing that goes with my aluminum x-mas tree has year after year provided me with hours of entertainment.

and tomorrow it's my birthday!
happy holidays!

Craft Shows and more!

I'm super excited!
My prints are now available at Reform School in Silverlake!
Reform School is a great shop filled with awesome stuff, I want it all says my inner Veruca Salt!
Reform School has a varied selection of my prints including my new 2008 calender, if you're in the area stop in and gush at all the great stuff, and buy something while your at it!
Reform School, 4014 Santa Monica Blvd. Los Angeles CA 90029

I'll also be updating the selection of my prints at Under The Table in Atwater Village.
Under The Table is the gallery store for the 'Black Maria Gallery' just next door.
They have all sorts of prints, small works of art and other artists made treasures.
Look for the 'Cuddly Pig' and others in a new display stand.
Under The Table, 3139 Glendale Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90039

This weekend I got to go on a few great field trips! Normally I'm so busy working in the Studio or working at the Shop that I don't take the opportunity. But because of the delightful cold I've been rocking all weekend, aimless wandering around town was just the thing.
Yesterday I went to a hand made show at The Center for The Arts in Eagle Rock, it was great!
I got a chance to chat with a few of the folks I see at fairs when I'm selling my wares and it was nice to get a chance to look at what they are selling and chat instead of feeling guilty for abandoning my booth.

I checked out Michelle Caplan's work, I have to admit to presentation envy :)
If your trying to get a web presence together and/or sell at fairs this girl has her ducks in a row!
Not to mention her work is really great! Lot's of detail and super nostalgic.

Lyn Atol stopped by my booth at 'Handmade' and remarked that our work is similar but different. And it is! I bought a great mini-college from her that is super sweet. It reminds me of Holly B's birthday party in 2006...we made her a cake that had a 1800's porcelain doll on top and the cake part was a giant poofy skirt...and Holly B and I are always drawing the insides of things..so it makes me happy when I look at it! I have to find a sweet home for this tiny piece.

I bought a hand letter pressed card from Panorama Press and talked to the creator of the beautiful letterpress cards Madeleine about how I secretly covet letterpress. I think a letterpress class might be in my future. The Armory in Pasadena teaches a class and it isn't too much!

While I'm at it I also want to mention this great pair of earrings I bought a few weeks ago at the Patchwork show in Santa Ana ( I swear I don't buy this much every day, I just happen to be blogging about it all at once...) But see , they are super great! They are made by Spragwerk's who was also selling at the 'Handmade' show. I've been wearing them like every other day!

Today, I snuck out early and went over to the PCC flea, it's one of my favorites here in SoCal because you only have to pay two buck to park and it doesn't cost anything to get in! Because I was still feeling cruddy it was pretty likely that I was going to buy one of three things. Bakelite, taxidermy or old books/magazines and because my nose is slightly off taxidermy it was...that might need explaining Bakelite needs to be rubbed to be certain it is bake so that was out and the books moldy smell just got my nose running more! I got these two small racks for $20, not that I need more antlers but thats the whole point of a comfort purchace isn't it? Here they are with the 2008 calender!

And finally, here's some pic's of my booth at the 'Handmade for the Holidays' show last weekend.
The show was great, tons of really awesome art, crafts and other handmade things!!!
I'm super stoked with the new stands my dad made for me. They prop my prints up just right and invite lots of browsing and looking! I sold quite a few prints and a number of them to other artists selling at the fair which is the best kind of compliment!

"It Was Already Dead" and the vivid fabric background I used for my booth.
