The boy and I are headed up to the bay area for the new years holiday!
His band is playing at the Sea of Dreams party in San Francisco, I already put together a swanky outfit so it should be a swanky evening!
The holidays have been especially grand this year with lots of fun filled dinners with friends and hopefully I'll get to see some old friends up north this weekend. I'll be off line most of the week so no merry art making for me but I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to share when we return.

commission painting
a few weeks ago i was working on a commission painting for a friend to give to a family member. he gifted it to them this past weekend and they loved it!
here it is
the piece was based on the childhood nicknames of the couple; baby piglet and baby monkey in Japanese. they loved it and now i just need to build it a crate and ship it off to new york!

it's my birthday!
yep it is!
it's been a birthday week 'round here though! last week i had a small birthday dinner at our place which was totally fun! i know better than to assume folks can come out to play on x-mas eve so having it a week earlier was a great solution.
tonight i plan to loaf about, run some last minute x-mas errands and have a yummy dinner later with friends at Roy's in Pasadena. Cheesy tropical food when it's freezing out, why yes please!
When my folks were down this past weekend they brought me a collection of 1950's vintage sci-fi magazines to use for new source imagery. TEN BANKERS BOXES full!!!! That's a lot of science fiction! I've scanned a few of the covers into my flicker account and will add more as i find entertaining ones. Check 'em out!

it's over!
all of the holiday sales are finally over!!!
thanks so much to everyone that came out and all the new people i met this year!
it was a great collection of shows that started way back in October.
most of the money from this years sales of prints and paintings is going to a TWO Week trip to Italy in a few weeks! Super Excited!!! my guide books just came in the mail from Amazon so it's time to hunker down with a cup of tea and get plannin'. my travel partner will be coming over in a little bit to pipe up with what she wants to see and do so i'm sure we'll have a pretty busy itinerary.

Unique LA! It was a great show! Here's some pics of our booth and the view from the 13th floor.
Tons of really great people came by to say hello and buy our stuff. Thanks to all my awesome friends who stopped by throughout the day and especially to Connie Lynne who pinched me some free beer!

so i was going to post all about UniqueLA this morning but I got some bad news this morning.
One of my beloved kittens has passed on.
This makes me very sad as they are the best kittens a girl could hope for.
When I lived in Oakland they kept me company in my warehouse, roaming from one end to another, making cute cat noises and generally being the best company a girl could have.
I'm a bit too sad to be able to post much of anything right now so I'll just leave you with some pictures of Josephine who has gone to the great big kitten home to play with all the other awesome kittens.
she was so friendly, fluffy and soo soft.
This is her partner in crime Napoleon who I'm terribly afraid will be lonely now.
He is so cute and shy.

Thanks to Everybody that came out to Craft Riot!
Rose and I had a great time and it was prolly one of the best run small show's either of us has been to this season.
The organizers were super nice and welcoming and they even gave us a lunch voucher for a hot dog or a hamburger!!! How awesome is that? (remember if you've forgotten to grab lunch for these things your often stuck waiting it out or grabbing some very overpriced junk food.) We happened to be placed right next to either so we turned our tables inwards and created a booth space. People love to putter through our things checking everything out, it's super great!
The best suprise of the day was sitting there wrapping yarn and looking up and seeing my friend Art...it took a minute for my brain to process as they live up north! If Art was there my good friend Elaine couldn't be far behind with their rugrat Audrey in tow! It was great to see them, it's so nice when folks come to visit at the craft shows! Later Jim and I drove down to Torrence to meet up with her for some beers and conversation, I miss my friends from up north greatly and it's so awesome when I get to see them!!!
Last weekend my old room mate JR came by the Silverlake show and I prolly spent the last hour or the show catching up with him and his girl. (yes, I should have been working but what can you do :)
In other fronts, I belive I've finished the comission painting I've been working on! I've been dying to posts pics in progress but because it's a gift I've got to keep my lips sealed. But I'll post something after the holidays. I'm super pleased with the way it turned out and I hope they love it!!!
Coming up this weekend is the Unique LA show!!!
All of us are excited! It's the last big show of the season and it looks to be fantastic!!!
I have a few wristbands that allow for free entry so shoot me an email if you want one before they are all gone!
Oh, and it's decorating time here in the woods. I brought all the Christmas decoration boxes into the house and have started spreading the cheer around!
Here's a pic of our fireplace mantel, these awesome blue tinsel trees my mom just sent me and my collection of happy reindeer! I'm having a birthday party for myself next week so I want to get the house all Christmas dolled up for everyone! Hope your having fun with Christmas decorations as well!

December!
it's December!
whoa...how did that happen?
it's still warm here in L.A. although to make myself a bit more in the winter spirit I dug up a pic from last year. it snowed here sometime in January, this is above our house on one of the trails!
I'm working away in the studio on a commission painting! I don't want to spoil the surprise but it's looking pretty great so far! I really like commissions as I have a pretty good system down for figuring out what the customer wants then just going from there. I'll post a pic when it's all said and done.
and a slight change of plans in the works...I going to Italy as planned for two weeks in January but it looks like I'll be going with my awesome friend Connie-Lynne instead of my wonderful boy. I'm sad not to go with the boy but I understand why the change of plans. we'll have vacations in the future and i'll take a million pictures to show him ( and make him watch the slide show!)
Connie-Lynne and I will have so much fun noshing our way across the countryside and if we are very lucky my other friend Holly B might join us in Florence. ( but that is hopeful thinking at this point!) I hear Venice is flooding more than usual so let's hope that clears up before our trip!
